What is Reiki?

What exactly is Reiki?

 Reiki is a gentle, energy-healing practice that promotes balance and harmony in the mind, body, and spirit. Originating in Japan, Reiki works by channeling universal life energy through the practitioner's hands to the recipient, helping to release energy blockages, reduce stress, and encourage natural healing. This holistic approach supports emotional well-being, deep relaxation, and a renewed sense of inner peace. 

Okay, but what does science say?

 

Reiki is often described as an energy-healing practice, with growing interest in its physiological and psychological effects. While the exact mechanisms of Reiki are not fully understood, some scientific studies suggest it may influence the body's parasympathetic nervous system—responsible for "rest and digest" functions—helping to reduce stress and promote relaxation.

Research has also shown that Reiki sessions may lead to measurable improvements in heart rate variability (HRV), an indicator of stress resilience, as well as reductions in cortisol levels, the hormone associated with stress. While more research is needed to establish its broader effects, Reiki is increasingly recognized as a complementary therapy that supports emotional well-being and the body's natural healing processes.

This sounds religious, is this part of a specific religion?

 Reiki is not affiliated with any religion, nor does it require belief in a specific faith or doctrine. Instead, it is a holistic practice rooted in channeling universal energy to promote balance and well-being. Its inclusivity allows individuals of all spiritual backgrounds and belief systems to benefit from its healing potential. Reiki complements personal faith or spiritual practices, making it accessible and welcoming to everyone. 

How often should I do reiki?

 The frequency of Reiki sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. Many people benefit from weekly or bi-weekly sessions when working through stress, emotional challenges, or energy imbalances. Others may find monthly sessions helpful for maintaining overall well-being and balance. Reiki is a flexible practice that can be tailored to your unique journey—whether you’re seeking regular support or occasional relaxation and rejuvenation. 

Wait, you can do this virtually?

 Distance Healing Reiki is a powerful practice that transcends physical boundaries, allowing healing energy to be sent to individuals wherever they are in the world. Using focused intention and advanced Reiki techniques, the practitioner connects to the recipient's energy field to promote balance, relaxation, and well-being. This practice is just as effective as in-person sessions and is perfect for those who prefer the comfort of their own space or are unable to attend in person.
